A converted barn in South Gloucestershire was extended on the side to create a large kitchen diner with a glass front opening to the garden.
The existing single storey kitchen was demolished and replaced with a larger structure featuring untreated cedar cladding, generous bifold doors and a sloping green roof. The design is clearly contemporary yet sympathetic to the original structure.
The project also involved re-planning the ground floor layout to improve access to the existing rooms, introduce natural light in the entrance hall and provide a shower room and a separate utility cupboard. This project was selected as a regional finalist at the West of England LABC Building Excellence Awards 2016.
