New build eco-house in North Somerset

DHV Architects designed and oversaw through to completion a contemporary four bedroom house in the North Somerset Green Belt, 30 minutes south of Bristol. Replacing a dilapidated chalet bungalow, the new house was carefully planned to meet local planning constraints while maximizing space and views. The design centres on generous open-plan living areas that open onto a south-facing terrace, offering uninterrupted 180º panoramic views.

The elevations feature cropped limestone and ash timber cladding, punctuated by brightly coloured render panels. Built using a timber frame system, the home features a continuous external insulation layer for enhanced thermal performance. Sustainability was a key focus, with triple-glazed composite windows, an air source heat pump, solar PV panels, and battery storage enabling the property to achieve an A-rated EPC.
